Stream: synergy meeting vol. 2

Die Wolke art group, in collaboration with Enora Gemin, is happy to propose the project Stream: synergy meeting vol. 2 for the Transfer International programme. Stream is an initiative to explore the relationship of contemporary dance with modern media and technology, in particular through interaction facilitated by interfaces.

The first Stream meeting took place in 2016 at Vitruvian Thing, and explored the relationships of movement and visualised mathematical objects. Three years later, this second iteration of Stream focuses on sound and musical composition, using wearable interfaces. Enora Gemin and Drosia Triantaki, Die Wolke’s founder and art director, are both graduates of Folkwang Universität Der Kunst. As the two on-stage performers, they are setting out to explore the relationships of comtemporary dance and Tanztheater with interactive technology, under the technical guidance of sound artist and awarded composer Dani Joss.

The wireless inertial and electromechanical wearable interfaces were originally made for the Die Wolke’s research and performance project Trajectory of an Idea. They will be repurposed for use with new choreographic elements and improvisation, expanding the breadth of their applications to live instrument processing. The participating musicians will be selected via open call, with the successful candidates invited to work with Drosia, Enora, and Dani to take part in the final performances at Vitruvian Thing, in Thessaloniki.

Overall, Stream aims to bring together forward-thinking artists from the fields of contemporary dance, music, and the performing arts in general. It encourages collaboration and experimentation, while it embraces and repurposes new technologies, both functionally and aesthetically.

Performance dates: 23-24 Nov 2019

Venue: Vitruvian Thing - Ptolemaeon 29A, 54630, Thessaloniki, GR
