Cultural Diversity in NRW

November 14-16, 2016

From November 14th to 16th, a group of visitors from the Netherlands and Belgium visited North Rhine-Westphalia as part of the second thematic focus of TRANSFER INTERNATIONAL, that of Cultural Diversity.

A round table at the Zukunftsakademie NRW (‘Academy of the Future’, ZAK) in Bochum served as a contextual starting-point for the trip, bringing together the Dutch and Belgian experts with thirteen experts from NRW and enabling lively discussions about understandings of Cultural Diversity in the three participating countries.

The programme included visits to a wide variety of institutions, including kitev – Kultur im Turm e.V. and the cultural café and restaurant Gdanska in Oberhausen, the Katakombentheater and the Kulturakademie Ruhr in Essen, and the Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland in Bonn. The group also attended a concert by the band SONIQ at the Kunstmuseum Bochum, which was supported by the NRW KULTUR Secretariat’s funding stream Musikkulturen.
